Vice-President, Larry Williamson

Larry brings a long experience with non-profit organizations to
DolphinTouch. He was on the board of directors for Aloha International for
8 years, Most of the time he was on the board he was Vice President. Aloha
International, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has transformed the
lives of thousands of people all over the world. The mission of Aloha
International is to introduce everyone to the practical wisdom of the
ancient Hawaiian way of living with nature and spirit.
Larry has been on the board of directors of the Pacific Traditions Society
for 9 years. He has been their President for the last 5 years. The organization
is a group of anthropologists who are working with native peoples around
the Pacific. They are dedicated to preserving the wisdom of the
Polynesians before the "old ways" are lost forever. One of their projects
is The Hawaiian Cleanse Project, in association with Auntie Margaret
Machado, who for over 60 years, taught lomi-lomi massage to many lomi
teachers. Their major focus is the Vaka Taumako Project: working with the
chiefs of a group of islands in the Solomons. They are the only people
left in the world that can build, sail and navigate voyaging canoes in the
way Polynesians have done for thousands of years. Larry and his wife,
Helen, have been officially declared citizens by the Paramount Chief of
the Duff Islands, Koloso Kaveia, and have been adopted by the ariki (royal)
family of Wia of Taumako.
Larry also has experience in the medical field. After college at the
University of Kansas, he worked for 4 years at the School of Aerospace
Medicine in Texas, doing research on the biological effects of radiation.
Part of his time in his last year at the School, he taught a lecture and
lab class on radioisotopes to technicians, MDs and PhDs.
Larry's main occupation was as a systems analyst. For 13 years, he
designed and programmed financial computer systems for the Pennsylvania
Life Insurance Company as part of the actuarial department. Then he joined
Northrop Aircraft as part of their corporate department. There he designed
retirement, payroll and personnel systems for 14 years. During that time
he was responsible for the data integrity of a 12 billion dollar retirement
fund belonging to over 60,000 employees.
Larry retired in 1994 and moved with his wife Helen to the island of
Kauai. They have one son and four grandchildren.
Larry had many spiritual experiences starting when he was 13, sometimes
several a week. Although these travels into other "realities" stopped by the
time he was 15, it left a profound imprint on his beliefs. Starting over
30 years ago, fortune blessed him with shaman friends who introduced him to
Polynesian shamanism and joined him in many journeys.
Larry feels the core belief of all shamanism is almost completely untold,
and needs to be brought to the awareness of the world: to change one's
"cherished" core beliefs to fit current circumstances, in order to become
more effective. Polynesian shamanism doesn't follow "the way of the
warrior": we don't need the power to conquer what we judge as disharmony;
we only need to cooperate and understand. He calls this the shamanic "way
of harmony" and believes this is the primal part of the nature of dolphins.
